Nobody's Opinion

Daniel Hannan at CPAC…Happy Valentines Day!

Nobody’s Perfect

Me, I’m not perfect…. I began to write my usual Tuesday’s Nobody’s Perfect column, and then I ran into this. As I listened to my most favorite speaker on the planet, my heart began throbbing like a young schoolgirl.

Sorry. This is the perfect speech, and I just can’t help myself. Anyone who believes in freedom, should take the time to listen to this masterpiece.

While everyone is watching Sarah Palin, and all the American speakers, Nobody Thinks, it’s Daniel for me, who presented in his usual brilliant way, why we should fight like hell to preserve what we have.

He talks about Reagan, Jefferson, our Constitution, Washington, and cracks some pretty good jokes. I LOVE this guy, and I just know, if you listen to him..you will too.

Enjoy and Happy Valentines’ Day!

  1. Enjoy I did. Thank you for bringing Daniel’s entire speech to us all.

What a fine speaker. I cannot, off the top of my head, even on reflection, think of a better one. His mental ability to ‘find the words’ leaves me almost envious. I have to temper that envy that arises unbidden. I struggle to ‘find the words’. I speak, I hesitate, I stumble, I rephrase. I ‘delete’ and re-write. Hannon ‘flows’. The exact word and phrase arrives in its proper place and order. With velocity. He ‘quotes’ lengthily and historically with the ease of someone who committed a wise word, an entire page, to memory just yesterday. He knows facts about people. Arcane, trivial facts that drop in just perfectly.

Yes. I am jealous. I whack my vice with a hammer.

God save Hannan from ever becoming a President or prime Minister. To have his mind ‘in-charge’ of a nation, devoted to ‘policy and politics’, organising the minute detail of this bit of legislation, that bit of imposition on the people, would ruin him. To have to deal with unruly minds around him as a ‘Leader’ would drive him to distraction and distance.

He is perfectly positioned to critique and encourage, to educate and remind.

He does them all so well.

But were he to sacrifice his sprightly mind and direction to take such a High role, he would find God on his side and His broad shoulders to sit upon.

    • And thank you amfortas for finding just the right”words” that I fumbled, and hesitated to say.
