Nobody Flashes Happy News!

Nobody Flashes

How about some happy news for once?

How PROUD are we of our American soldiers, who ONCE AGAIN, came to the aid of the French! They took down a terrorist while they were on vacation no less….

heros

And one more happy picture! Maybe?

  1. We’ve saved the French more than once. Our Uncle Ray Bechard, (a young 32 yr-old, from Nashua, NH) died Aug. 20th, 1944, at Falais Pass, north of Paris- -helping to hold back German storm troopers. Paris was liberated on the 25th! The second photo makes me think a “Trump/Cruz” ticket would be ideal.

    • Wow…your Uncle Ray Bechard….must have the best of the best! Thanks for sharing that madmemere. 🙂  How proud you must all be of that. Did you have any pictures of him I hope His name should be in lights on the Effel Tower, along with all the other men who gave their lives protecting France…at least that’s MY Nobody’s Opinion.

      • Joyanna -So much time has passed, many moves have taken place; belongings and souvenirs have changed hands. I know there are pictures “someplace”, I just don’t know which box, or album they are in at the moment. The two things that are immediately available are the framed memorial commendation, signed by FDR and the two 180th Infantry-85th Division journals that stand in the bookcase – -I pass by them every day. There were so many who gave All, I doubt the Eiffel Tower is big enough to hold all the names, with, or without lights.

      • That’s so lovely….I know, we have much the same here…old albums, in fact, I just gave my brother my Dad’s old Seabee navy book, which had pictures of some of the men who served and their units that served in the Pacific, and then, HIS wife (my sister-in-law) discovered while looking through my father’s band of brothers that her GRANDFATHER was in the same unit as my father! What are the odds? My father lost his older brother in Midway. My favorite story was how he used to sleep with his eyes open, because the RATS were so big in the Pacific, all the men were really scared of them.  I always thought it was funny how he could sleep with his eyes open, but he did it for years…and I thought my dad was scared of nothing after what he went through there. I didn’t learn until well into my forties just WHAT those men endured,…high school did not even mention it, I learned it not from my dad, but from old tapes from the library. I was…shocked at how young most of those men were.  And you have a point…about the Tower not having enough room. Thanks for sharing that madmemere.

      • Joyanna -There is so much more you and I could discuss; time is not on my side right now- -we’re getting the house ready for market and there is still too much to do and too little time to get it done. You talked about things high school didn’t mention; I was in school, in the 40’s and 50’s and discovered, just in the past 8, or 10 years, that our schools were not teaching factual truth, even back then. • Right you ARE! The school system has been corrupted for decades…I agree.
