Nobody's Opinion

No Free Speech At the Beautiful Beach— Please.

Nobody Reports

I had to post this today, because in my own family, this is happening. This Nobody (me) has been notified to STOP talking about religion and politics around her family. Of course THEY are allowed to talk about it, usually saying to me, things that cause my eyebrows to raise beyond my forehead line. My right eyebrow is floating somewhere near the Space Station.

In fact, trying to muzzle my own opinions is like trying to muzzle elephants on a rampage. I’m winning my own muzzling so far….but….my eyes might pop out…I might have to say something to someone. Hopefully—I’ll find the nearest lamp post and be allowed to remain in the family.

I thought it was only MY problem…this “We don’t want to be upset about the current state of our country.” so…shut up, until I watched this video.

Is anybody else having this problem in their families?

  1. Actually, I’ve been blessed with three children, a son and two daughters. Neither of the girls really likes to talk politics; my son, on the other hand won’t “stop”. You are blessed to have a son; an observation over time, showed me girls mature earlier than boys. My daughters were mentally “old and stable” by the time they reached twenty years-of-age, my son only “matured” at age thirty-two!! Just proves boys are slower than girls in a great many respects – -lol.

    • You are right. Women do mature earlier. My son was also very late to that game. And nowadays, they don’t HAVE to mature like years ago…when our fathers seemed to mature faster. I think WWII, threw the ‘boys’ into the WAR, and they had to grow up real fast. Although, it could just be the way our brains are wired. Ha!

  2. Yep, my daughter keeps asking me to “please, don’t talk politics with so-and-so, they get all upset”! At least I’ve gotten my daughter, to the point, she will have a “decent” conversation with me about it. That little effort took a good five years to bring about.

    • Well, THAT”s  good news…it always helps to have a daughter to talk to. I did not have a daughter, and I miss her. (Does that make sense?) My son would BEG for me to not talk about politics, but now that he’s in his thirties, he knows more than I do, and he doesn’t even spend HALF the time on it. I never thought I’d see that day happen…but he is the only one in the family who is interested in it.
