President Trump: Our Pericles

Nobody Knows

Is anybody else tired of the democrats howling that President Trump is destroying our “democracy?” Actually, we live in a representative republic. If we had democracy, then California and New York would rule the country for ever more, having the most population. The electorial college was set up wisely by our founders so that even the smaller number of people in smaller states would have the same say..but…they don’t teach that in school. In fact…our founders wanted everybody to have a say…and they didn’t want a democracy.

This is what Elon Musk has been saying about filling the middle states with illegals: sooner or later the country, due simply to the population, would become one party. And the democrats would surely say, “THIS IS TRUE DEMOCRAY!” Well…let’s not go there yet…

So, let’s go back to the first democracy, which was Athens, Greece. The men could vote, and so for many years, Athens, Greece, was the start of ‘rule by the citizens.’ It went much as you expected, corruption, except the politicians were like we have now, they all catered to one elite group or the other EXCEPT one guy..and his name was Pericles. Pericles…like Trump, was from a rich family, but when he ran for office, he catered to the lower and middle classes of the city: farmers, oarsmen in the Navy, and craftmen’s who were the pride of Athens. He work to increase their voice in the assembly, and this was the majority of the citizens.

(President Trump did the same..he won the majority vote in all swing states…he appealed to all the masses, not the elites in universites and D.C.)

Pericles did not want to expand the empire, he feared too much overreach would make them lose control, so they didn’t start wars.

(Trump is the same way…trying to unhook us from taking care of the whole world, and putting America first.)

When it came to wars, Pericles strove to win through maneuvers, with minimal loss of lives.

(Trump also kept us out of wars, and he does it with his “art of the deal” maneuvers.)

So what happened to Athens? It became the golden era of building and prosperity! Isn’t that what President Trump is telling us he is trying to do?

Because of what Pericles did, Athens had a surplus of money from not being in wars, and instead of using the money to buy political favors, he commissioned temples, theaters, and concert halls, putting everyone to work. He built the Parthenon, with the 44 foot statue of Athena: the goddess of wisdom and practical intelligence.

(President Trump calls it “common sense.” And he is doing the very same thing here…bringing back business, and upgrading the White House, putting back the statues…he has alot planned. Remember, President Trump IS a accomplished builder.)

While the Athenians did not trust politicians, Pericles was around the longest and everybody loved him.

Of course then along came the Spartans and war, and that’s another blog. Sparta beat the Atheians, because the “democracy” came back to Athens, and with the help of a plague, Periceles got sick and died, and so did the golden age of Athens.

(You have to WONDER if the democrats knew the Greek history…Athens was destroyed when Pericles got sick and died, and remember President Trump almost did too.)

Yes, President Trump has a lot in common with Pericles, the real man who built Athens, and gave it the golden age we all still point to…just remember, when the democrats say “democracy” it’s more what their definition is…and it’s not “rule by the people” it’s “rule by the elites.” In other words: THEM.
