Rupert Murdoch: Running With the Bulls

Nobody Wonders—

What does a business man do when his organization is caught doing illegal things? Why—- he just gets rid of the whole company, of course! That’s what Rupert Murdoch did when it was found out, according to many, that the phones of entertainers, politicians, and other unsuspecting souls were tapped to get the stories for London’s favorite Sunday Newspaper…The Sun.
 ***
Rupert is having a rough time lately. One of his biggest stars (Glenn Beck) has left ship to form his own empire. He had to sell MySpace for a loss. And he has many enemies all over the globe, working overtime, trying to bring him down. Here in the states, FOX News is just about the only conservative news program left, so it’s no wonder.
***
Bill O’Reilly, probably his biggest star, didn’t miss a beat after Glenn left. He is going to go on tour without Glenn Beck, and will be touring a new show with Dennis Miller. I saw the Bold and Fresh Show with Glenn and Bill. I was surprised to discover Bill is really a funny man. The new show without Glenn, will be just as entertaining, you can bet your cowboy booties.
***
I have to say, Nobody gives credit to the old guy for this bold step. What makes me wonder is: why just him? Google has a humongous data bank of information of people all over the globe, informatin that was gotten illegally, and yet, you don’t see the Google executives shutting it down. And soon, Apple will be having a “cloud’ recording every single email and phone message ever sent.
***
And they willingly hand everything over to the government. Where’s the privacy?
On January 18, 2006, the U.S. Justice Department filed a motion to order Google to turn over a “multi-stage random sample of one million URL’s” from Google’s database and a computer file with, “the text of each search string entered onto Google’s search engine over a one-week period (absent any information identifying the person who entered such query). On March 18, 2006, a federal judge ruled that while Google must surrender 50,000 random URLs, the Department of Justice did not meet the necessary burden to force Google to disclose any search terms entered by its users.
Tell me, what’s the difference? They are not making the information public? It’s not illegal to snatch it without permission, only if you use it?
***
While we all stammer with godlike admiration of the boy who invented FACEBOOK…a boy who literally stole an idea and made it bigger, one wonders…where are the rules?
***
Some can steal, and some can’t. Work WITH the government, and you are left alone.
***
The only rule that you have to know and instill in your children is that Big Brother is watching you…and all his many corporate friends. If you don’t know that now—
— then I suggest you stop running with the bulls.

  2. The British ‘Flagship’ newspaper -The News of the World – of the Murdoch empire is to close down over illegal and corrupt practices. It has been publishing for 168 years and disappears in utter disgrace and even contretemps in Parliament. It would never have happened under a Female leadership. We are told over and over that if women ran things and sat on Boards, this sort of thing would stop and all would be ‘sensitive’ and empathetic, above board, transparent and full of superior communication skills,

Whoops, the Managing Editor, in charge of all the editorial and finance direction and reporting directly to Murdoch hisself is…. er.. a person called Rebekah. (who cannot even spell her own friggin’ name).

But wait,…. she is not being fired ! Oh dear me no. We cannot have women executives being fired for ruining a 168 year old Institution, can we.

Meanwhile Gloriana Julia, the Witch of Oz, is still sitting on her throne despite running an entire country into the ground, where miners dig it up, sell it to China only to have Gloriana taxing them back into the ground.

Ain’t the world an interesting place.
