Nobody's Opinion

Nobody’s Perfect: Jonathan Krohn VS Victoria Grant

Nobody’s Perfect

I first saw Jonathan Kroch when he was 14, on Fox News. It was clear he was some kind of genius, and the conservatives were thrilled to have such a small and talented little miniature future conservative politician walking among us. But, it seemed, like our Supreme Court leader, Mr. Roberts…Jonathan is no longer the conservative. The little genius has wandered into the German philosophers that ALL universities stuff the most promising minds with. It’s pure socialists propaganda…I know, I thought it was great stuff too when I first read it.

I got over it. Once you get OUT of that university, you realize that it’s a fantasy land, and the German philosophers are better off dead.

Thus Spoke…Nobody.

Here’s what the kid believes:

Gay marriage? In favor. Obamacare? “It’s a good idea.” Who would he vote for (if he could) in November? “Probably Barack Obama.” His favorite TV shows? “The Daily Show” and “The Colbert Report.” His favorite magazine? The New Yorker. And, perhaps telling of all, Krohn is enrolling this
fall at a college not exactly known for its conservatism: New York University.

“I started reflecting on a lot of what I wrote, just thinking about what I had said and what I had done and started reading a lot of other stuff, and not just political stuff,” Krohn said. “I started getting into philosophy — Nietzsche, Wittgenstein, Kant and lots of other German philosophers. And then into present philosophers — Saul Kripke, David Chalmers. It was really reading philosophy that didn’t have anything to do with politics that gave me a breather and made me realize that a log of what I said was ideological blather that really wasn’t meaningful. It wasn’t me thinking. It was just me saying things that I had heard so long from people that I thought were interesting and just came to believe for some reason, without really understanding it. I understood it enough to talk about it but not really enough to have a converstion about it.”

Trust me folks, the fact that he likes Obamacare shows that he doesn’t understand a thing he is reading, NOW either!

Now, compare him to this young girl, Victoria Grant. She is reading her opinions here, but it’s very obvious she understand it completely. She has much more common sense, and is not effected in the least, by the thrill of herself, as Jonathan is.

If I had to pick which one of these kids was going to go far in life, I’d would pick Jonathan. It’s obvious, he has the gift of gab….much like his favorite candidate, Obama. Nevertheless, fame isn’t everything.

Nobody Thinks the young girl…has the higher intellect.

Still, compared to the rest of the kids at their age, both of these young people are marvelous. When I was their age, I was wandering along the beaches at night, picking up seashells, and staring at the stars…

  1. Children should be seen and not heard.

Both of these articulate children ‘parrot’ things that they have read or have been ‘taught’. Hah ! Just look at who is teaching them.

People of all ages have ‘opinions’ (read, half-baked ideas with huge gaps into which their prejudices slot nicely) and are encouraged to ‘express’ them without restraint. Try to restrain the voluble garbage that pours out and you will be labeled as ‘oppressive’ or ‘contolling’.

Even as children our childish ideas become ‘beliefs’, which are, of course, sacred. You must not ‘interfere’ with beliefs but rather ‘respect’ them. God knows why but don’t mention God as one is not permitted to believe in God on pain of instant dismissal as a loony (or a Republican).

One can get a long way through life retaining all the ‘beliefs’ one had at twelve. There are more 50 year olds litening to their own 12 y/o selves alive today than there were 100 years ago. Few of them ever bother to ask other 12 y/os their ‘opinions’ because no adult would be seen dead consulting a 12 y/o. except om You Tube.

Very occasionally a young person comes along who can do a very sound job of reciting. Once, not too long ago, every child had to recite things daily in school – passages from Homer, poetry, even ‘times’ tables. but that has been discontinued in favour of their own creative ramblings. Still, some will soldier on and get invited to recite infront of an adult audience.

But Rap chanting gets paid better.

Just imagine what that little girl would have sounded like with a good drummer behind her. With cymbals.

    • So, I take it you thought that girl had no clue of what she was saying. Neither one of us really knows the truth to that now do we? One thing we can notice, is that without the parents wanting their children to be out in public doing this stuff, we wouldn’t be seeing it. Somewhere these kids parents are, like many sports parents that I’ve seen, living vicariously through the kids. The boy upsets me more than the girl. He was on TV last night, with a NEW nerdy, liberal look. It was creepy.

      • Hi Joyanna! Thank you for posting your thoughts regarding my daughter. Although victoria is somewhat interested in Monetary reform she is more interested in Interior Design 🙂 . She is not a prodigy but she is smart and has a great memory.

She wrote this speech for school. It took her a long time to research and prepare. We assisted her with the editing with the understanding that anything within her speech (vocabulary, ideas etc.) she needed to be able to explain, and define on her own.

She has participated in many an interview where she is asked questions that she needed to think on her feet and each time she has successfully presented her thoughts.

She is most assuredly influenced by my perspectives and others but she is also capable of reasoning through them in a critical manner.

I hope that helps explain the situation! Each step of the way it was my daughter asking to do the interviews etc. We were somewhat afraid to let her go public but she has enjoyed her time and the experience of interviews and such.
I am just a dad trying to help my daughter enjoy life and to assist her in the discipline of thinking critically. All the best!!
