Our Debt: Explained to Nobody

Nobody Wins

My good friend Pattie emailed this to me today…Pattie does my taxes so I KNOW she understand this…but this man explains our dire debt situation in language that even I can understand…

If you watch this you might say…either —

1) Joyanna…did you HAVE to show me that? or

2) Joyanna…thanks!

Whatever the case…it’s good to know why everyone is telling you to forget gold, and stock up on ammo.

I’m considering putting a moat around the house…

  2. Following my previous comment, I got to thinking, ‘What a misery-guts’ I am. I should look to the bright side.

I thunk and thunk and thunk, looking for an upside, and I found one !!

If America goes belly-up, it will experience what South Africa has experienced….. all the illegals move out.

  3. Not that it matters now, but the fact is political leaders knew what was going to happen in the future. They knew the baby boomers would retire. They knew there would be more retired people than wage earners to pay in to the system. They knew there is in fact no real “Social Security”. Money for Social Security isn’t put in to a special fund, or conservatively invested as would have been the sane thing to do. The money is simply dumped in to the general fund and spent. Our leaders don’t plan long term. Everything is “kick the can down the road”, so they can pass more pork filled spending bills, and avoid public backlash against needed reforms. This disaster was decades in the making.

  4. Sometimes the Doomsayers are right. Grow your garden.

The Federal Government figures are horrendous, but only part of the story. Just look at all the States Governments and the Cities that are not simply ‘technically’ bankrupt but actually.

When the creditors gather outside the doors it will be no use at all asking them to accept a ‘Title X’ settlement. They will simply say, ‘Thems is your rules, dummy. You play by OURS now’.

Meanwhile there are other countries who are not in the Greek boat. Iceland had a longboat that nearly sank under the weight of water pouring over the gunnuls. The same water as is pouring into the boat run by Captain Queeg. But the canny Icelanders sacked the nasty captain, bunkered down, and devalued. Yes, it was a smack in the face as far as dignity goes, but at least they had some dignity to smack. America blusters and dodges, lies and pontificates. It has lost the last vestiges of dignity somewhere down in the engine-room below the water level.

I sit here in Australia. Our economy is doing fine albeit heading a step or two down the same road as the US. Here we have leftie lunatics screwing opportunity and wealth creation as fast as they can. Fortunately they are not even good at that. So our Dollar has increased in value compared to the US, by 20+%.

China is doing fine too, but slowing to a strolling pace from its sprinting of the past few years. Hobble and whine they don’t. Odds are they will own whatever can be shifted from the US and move into whatever cannot be machine-handled out.

Buying a gun may well be a sound plan in the US, but that begs the question(s). Use it against who and for how long? Against other Americans also thoroughly pissed off? For a week? A year. For the conceivable future? Against the State? Against the policepersons you currently pay? (heck, you will probably need to against the sort of thick cop in Hazelwood who arrested a firefighter who parked his vehicle as per SOP).

America has a history of taking up arms against itself. Many of its citizens, while they were still British, took up arms against their neighbours who fought to remain British. And that was when they were prospering. Then there was the Civil War in which Americans killed Americans at such a rate that no other nation on Earth has yet managed to surpass. 600,000 Americans died at the hands of other Americans.

Methinks a better solution should be looked for. Meanwhile a gun might be prudent.

More prudent would be a garden with lots of veggies, a few chickens and a pig. Heck, that is more than most started with.
