Abraham Lincoln….THE President almost every school kid in America was told, freed the slaves. But..was there an easier way to do it? Did we HAVE to have that horrible Civil War? 
According to Judge Andrew P. Napolitano, Abe was no saint. He had this to say in his book The Constitution in Exile
“The bloodiest war in American history could have been avoided. But, with very little regard for honesty, Lincoln increased federal power and assaulted the Constitution. His actions were unconstitutional and he knew it. By barring the Southern states the right to secede Lincoln preserved the geographical Union but tore apart the Constitution. “
Yes, states have a RIGHT by our constitution to secede, but Abe refused to let them, and it wasn’t about slavery at all…it was about expanding federal power over the states, and building an empire.
Judge Napolitano…points out that history has gotten Abe all wrong. He mentioned Lincoln’s Confiscation Acts which Lincoln used to free the slaves.
The act provided that slaves would be transported to countries in the tropics. The freed slaves were not to be housed in the North. and if the Slave owner said he would be loyal to the UNION, he could keep his slave.
The truth is, Lincoln was supporting the political philosophy of Henry Clay, who was the leader of the Whigs.
“For forty years, Clay supported the creation of an American empire through measures such as corporate welfare (which political liked to call ‘internal improvements.” today we call them corporate tax breaks, protectionist tariffs, and a nationwide central bank. All of the things that Clay favored in essence provided for a highly centralized government. And Lincoln supported them all. “
When Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, most Northerners were surprised because the government had never previously said that the reason for the war was to liberate black slaves in the South.
And according to the Judge, Lincoln could have saved over 650,000 lives if he would have let the South leave the union. The Judge thinks, slavery would have died..like it did in England. England had freed its slave without violent conflict about twenty years earlier. Other countries too did it peacefully: Dutch (1863,) Puerto Rico (1873,) Brazil (1871-88,) and Cuba (1886) So WHY was our Civil war so bloody?
Lincoln was more concerned about the failure of states to collect tariffs than he was about slavery. Lincoln murdered civilians, declared martial law, suspended Habeas Corpus, seized vast amounts of private property without compensation (including railroads and telegraphs, and conducted a war without the consent of Congress,
“imprisoning nearly thirty thousand Northern citizens without trial shutting down several newspapers, and even deporting a congressman because he objected to the imposition of an income tax.”
In Maryland alone, Lincolns’ troops arrested and imprisoned without trail a mayor, a congressman, and thirty one state legislators.
He expanded the army and navy and used federal money to purchase arms and ammunition. without the consent of Congress. Only Congress can declare war, Lincoln said he was “suppressing a rebellion.”
According to the Judge, Lincoln behaved like a tyrant. And his general Sherman did too.
Sherman burned an entire town in Tennessee. Observers noted that “small Union units under his command expelled families from river towns and killed others who refused to be evacuated. Sherman’s march to the sea was nothing but a murderous rampage.
And we have Lincoln to thank for the income tax. He also increased taxes on just about everything. He established National Banks across the nation.
“My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it. and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it: And if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.”
The Judge puts a new light on Spielberg’s excellent movie called Lincoln, which made Lincoln out to be a saint…which goes to show you, it’s all how you look at it.
I’m not sure what to think about the Judge’s harsh opinion about Abraham Lincoln, but there is one thing that he is absolutely right on: Lincoln became a dictator.
War…seems to bring that out in all leaders.
God only knows what Obama will do to Americans should we be attacked.
Something tells me he will make Lincoln look like a saint….that history has always reported he was.

Ever since Ronald Reagan sited John Winthrop’s famous line about how we must strive to be “The shining light on a hill”— John’s place in history was set. After all, not many of us knew who the heck he was. Most people don’t even know who the Vice President is. When Reagan said it, we just thought of some guy standing on the a hill with a big lantern. Well…okay. I did.
John Winthrop was the first governor of Massachusetts. Winthrop actually kick-started America. Before him, America was just a scattering of various people of all kinds, trying to established the wilderness. John was one of the first to really get a population going in New England, and he did it with a firm hand. And by that I mean…VERY strict. He was a Puritan. Sort of a mullah, a pure pope. A top dog of religion. He fancied himself to Moses, and this was long before Russell Crow got the part.
Brooks and Charles Adams later blamed him for the bigotry which lead to the Salem witch trials….of which I’ve been told, ANOTHER one of my ancestors took part of. He was accused of being a witch, (my ancestor) but was later excused. (I must ask my cousin his name, who does our genealogies…but I’m off subject)
Previous colonies had failed because they were ‘carnall not religious.’ Wintrhop said. Only a colony which was governed by reformed religion stood a chance.
John came from Cambridge, trained as a lawyer and worked in the Court of Wards— but lost it because of his Puritan views. And he”came to the conclusion that overcrowded, irreligious, ill-governed England was a lost cause.”
In his General Observations for the Plantation of New England he wrote:
All other Churches of Europe are brought to desolation and it cannot be but that the like Judgment is coming upon us…This land grows weary of its Inhabitants, so as man, who is the most precious of all Creature, is heere more vile and base than the earth they tread upon…We are grown to the height of intemperance in all excess of Ryot, as no mans estate almost will suffice to keep sayle with his equals…The fountains of Learning and Religion are corrupted….Most children, even the best wittes and fayrest hope, are perverted, corrupted and utterly overthrown by the multitude of evil examples and the licentious government of those seminaries.

But fortunately, the people of England who were fed up with their country, could leave, unlike the Americans of today. I mean, where would we go? Mexico?
America was a wide open land, where a man could hope to own land, unlike in England, where just the few could own land. And once you learned how to farm…you were set for life.
So, John Winthrop, in the winter of 1629, formed the largest and best equipped English expedition to America yet. John bought over 1,000 colonists and settle them all around Boston Harbor. And John’s city of light upon the hill was basically a theocracy. The leaders were chosen by men of the church, recruited on their “Godly” behavior, and John Winthrop was their ‘godly’ dictator.
“We must consider that wee shall be as a City upon a Hill, the eyes of all people are upon us.”
BUT…and this is important, (its what separates us from Muslims) there was a wide selection of people who had come to America to get away from the hierarchical orders..that John had set up. They believed that God comes directly to them…they didn’t have to go through any kind of clergy to get near to god. The newly arrived people wanted to get away from clergy rule. And even thought Winthrop was a great leader…not everyone wanted to be under his strict rule.
But…like many dictators do, Winthrop got carried away with his own power. He made all colonists, swear an oath of loyalty to his government in accordance with the charter…and after four years, people demanded to see this “charter” which John Winthrop, had kept a secret, but….he finally had to give in.
And then he admitted, that according to the charter, he had taken maybe too many liberties.
Sorry. Oops.
The new Americans were bound and determined to be ruled by law, not by men, and they were also promised ‘the rights of Englishmen” which Winthrop had taken from them.
So they threw him out. ( You gotta love those first Englishmen.)

“Thus the first political coup in the history of North America was carried out, in 1634 when the colony was still in its infancy. And it was carried out not by force of swords and firearms but by arguments and speeches, and in accordance with the rule of law.
I wish I could tell you that was the end of it, but no…John Winthrop came back after two years, got back into the governorship, went back to his old dictator ways, and was again…demoted to deputy governor in 1644.
Nevertheless..he regained the governorship in 1646 and held it to his death three years later.
So the history lesson here……is………….
TERM LIMITS!!!

The city of Baltimore received over $1.8 billion from President Barack Obama’s stimulus law, including $467.1 million to invest in education and $26.5 million for crime prevention.
President Obama claimed last Tuesday that if the Republican-controlled Congress would implement his policies to make “massive investments in urban communities,” they could “make a difference right now” in the city, currently in upheaval following the death of Freddie Gray.
And let’s not leave out the big money everybody is getting in Ferguson, including the lawyers…
Ferguson, Missouri, is paying an attorney $1,335 an hour to help the St. Louis suburb negotiate and possibly litigated reforms pressed by the Justice Department since Michael Brown’s shooting death by a police officer there last summer, according to a newspaper report.
The Ferguson City Council unanimously decided behind closed doors in March to hire Dan K. Webb of suburban Chicago at an hourly rate that Missouri Lawyers Weekly, a legal publication, said is nearly double Missouri’s highest attorney billing rate last year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. That tab doesn’t include the expenses and fees of any lawyers or paralegals in Webb’s firm who may work on the case.
Really? Over a thousand an hour? Even astronauts don’t make that kind of money.
When politicians can grant big wades of taxpayers money to people in dire “need” then the more poor people in need we have, the more money the politicians can hand out to their friends. If that isn’t a big incentive to keep everybody poor, I don’t know what is.
Race baiting is BIG business now.

This week, we have ‘President’ Barack Obama VS Erik Sunnerheim.
First up: Obama.
Last week, most Americans went into shock when our ‘President’ announced that he has worked out an agreement with Iran…according to him, it was a really good one—

The most common criticism is that the framework allows Iran to keep operating thousands of centrifuges; the nuclear facilities at Fordow and Natanz, as well as Arak, remain open. They also worry that leaving Iran too close to a bomb would freak out Iran’s Arab enemies, leading to a nuclear arms race in the Middle East.
Another common concern is that the deal doesn’t cover Iran’s broader bad behavior, like intervening on behalf of murderous Syrian President Bashar al-Assad or supporting militant groups like Hamas and Hezbollah
Obama says no problem…we’ll be able to tell what they are doing.
But the deal does not include what you might call anytime, anywhere inspections, which are the thing that you have if any kind of deal is going to be honored.”
In other words, it was the worst national security deal ever made in American History. Okay, well, Jimmy Carter giving the Panama Canal to China wasn’t exactly a good deal. Bill Clinton giving North Korea the plutonium it needed to go nuclear, because they promised they wouldn’t (like Iran) and then they DID, was a terrible deal too. Nevertheless…Obama should have learned from those mistakes.
He…did not.
And then there’s Erik Sunnerheim, the Swede, who thinks a fun afternoon is ice skating with his chainsaw. (see video)
What could possibly go wrong?
You could say the exact same thing about Obama’s Iran deal. He is giving Iran the money, the incentive, and the okay to make nuclear bombs.
What could possibly go wrong?

Okay. I don’t even remember Elvis. My brother loved Elvis, I loved the Beatles, and he now knows more about Miley Cyrus than I even care to ask.
But that’s not what Friday’s blog is about. Enough with the good old days of Beach Boys singing about surfing, and women in Bikini’s who didn’t look starved to death.
Let’s remember…The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) of 1977!
And why is this important? Because if you want to know WHY our Presidents, Congress, AND our Supreme Court are ignoring the Constitution and trying to make it really easy for illegal’s to flood the country, and will continue to follow that path hell or high ice water, remember…they all have a goal in mind that they feel is a MUST for the survival of the United States and that is to get immigrants into the country. And get the poor more money. And it’s not easy. You have to give them stuff.
It all started with the CRA and peanut boy Jimmy Carter. Back when Carter was President, there was a lot of complaints that white people were getting loans but urban blacks were not.
Congress decided to give these people houses. (Which is WHY we need term limits…I’m all for 3 months at a time.)
If you think Jimmy was the only one to feel it his job to get ‘minorities and poor people’ houses, think again. President Bush, Clinton, AND Obama have also carried on that fine tradition of….giving people who can’t afford them, free houses. OR…houses they couldn’t possibly afford.
Add free college and health care, and back Social Security payments, throw in free drinks at the local strip club, and you can see where this it going.

The Community Reinvestment Act made it legal for the government to twist the arms of private banks to make loans to “less than creditworthy borrowers” thereby forcing private banks to associate with clients not of their choosing but rather of the government’s choosing. To hold control over these lenders, Congress empowered a number of regulatory agencies to punish those banks that were not meeting the credit needs for “low-income, minority and distressed neighborhood’s.” The government’ threat to these lenders was real. Agencies like the Federal Reserve, the Comptroller of the Currency, the Office of Thrift Supervision, and the Federal Deposits Insurance Corporation could examine banking institutions for CRA compliance (or non-compliance) and take this information into consideration when approving applications for new bank branches or for merger or acquisition. Banks were bullied into loosening their standards and as a result , made questionable loans to those who could not afford them.
He cites an example of a strawberry picker who made $14,000 a year, a loan for a $700,000 home.
And in the end, President George W. Bush had to come out and ‘save’ the economy which was on the verge of ‘collapse’ due to the gambling on Wall Street, but the real problem started with politicians trying to give the poor houses they couldn’t afford, and in the meantime, putting thousands of small banks into bankruptcy.
Which, of course, were gobbled up by the bigger banks, who were bailed out, making EVERYONE wonder if they did this all on purpose? Ha ha ha..of course they did! You think they don’t teach this stuff at Harvard?
That act alone put Obama into office and led us down the path to the destruction of Western Civilization. It was massive redistribution, and it had the blessings of the Bush family.
And so, that’s why we must remember Elvis, and the good old days, when he…was King…when life was much sweeter. In fact…if we could have made him King..
We’d be a lot better off today. Rap…would never have happened.

Bibi Netanyahu came out today with a stupendous and historical speech in front of Congress today, warning the world what will happen to us all when Obama gives nuclear weapons to Iran.
Right after the speech, we saw the lemmings of idiotocracy in the democratic party come out–they were insulted that Bibi would even DARE to question the great King Obama. Obama has flooded his party with useful idiots that put us all in danger.
How did Obama handle this momentous speech of the century?
Why, he gave us a scandal. Hillary’s email at the State Department were all private. All the liberals are…changing the subject..and talking about that stupid dress. And it’s not even Monica’s.
What does this prove? Obama not only wants Iran to get nukes, his hatred of Israel is so strong, he used a Hillary scandal to get the speech off the news. Obama doesn’t want Hillary to be President. The Republicans aren’t the only ones who dislike Hillary, Obama does to. America still has to hear from her on this.
So, how is he going to prevent that?
We have all watched Obama use his office to make himself the most powerful man in the world, and NO man, NO president, has wanted to leave the office. How did FDR manage to stay four terms? He became a dictator. They’ve erased that out of our American history. Sure, we were in a war, but that should not have effected elections.
Obama has already ordered a new Air Force One that will be impenetrable. Although it’s not suppose to be finished until after 2016…what if we see the next great event? Will Obama declare elections off? 
As Jordan’s King says: The Start of WWIII is here, now.
If Congress does not stop him, Obama will simply declare himself another term. Impeachment would be a long and bloody fight.
Obama is past deranged. An American President who sides with Muslims over the West is a danger TO the West.
IN the meantime, as we all see, Obama is on the side of the Muslims. He always has been. Always will be, which means, America is not who he plans to protect.
Sadly …America’s hope now lies in Netanyahu. Once upon a time, a whole world relied on Churchill. And even though FDR was a dictator, at least he didn’t side with the Nazi’s. We have a bigger problem with Obama. He sides with our enemies.
The democrats are saying “Gee. Iran is no threat! This is all hate speech for political purposes. How DARE they invite him to speak against our great leader.”
I suggest we remember all their names when America is attacked with a nuclear weapon. And what if it comes from North Korea instead of Iran? Obama would be blameless, and the Clinton’s would get the blame–and we might never know who really did it.
Think it couldn’t happen under Obama?
Then I suggest you open up another can of peas and carrots and get used to it. It might be all you will be allowed to eat should Obama continue to rule like a tyrant.
Can Bibi defeat Iran AND a dangerous American President? One thing we do know, he will defend Israel at all costs.
But…who will defend us? That’s a question every living American should be asking.

Who FORCED the Jim Crow Laws? HINT: They Also Tell You What to Eat….

I found out something today that I would have NEVER guessed in a million years: white people were NOT to blame for Jim Crow laws.
Come on Joyanna, of course the whites WANTED those blacks to sit at the back of the bus, and not drink out of their water fountains, you say. Okay, lots did. BUT…
Obama just talked about Jim Crow, but guess who was the REAL villain in putting up those Jim Crow laws?
The government. And it wasn’t because the white people wanted those laws.

The Jim Crow Laws legally mandated discrimination—were the sad and unforgivable result of the Civil War and Reconstruction. These rules and customs and regulations legally enshrined blacks as second class citizens for years. This system of legalized segregation was fully in place by 1910 in every state in the South. In the passage of these dreadful Jim Crow laws, the government singlehandedly stripped blacks and whites of the freedom to associate with whom they pleased.
Jim Crow laws were written, implemented, and enforced by the government. They were not the result of free individual action. Private streetcar companies in Augusta, Houston, Jacksonville, Mobile, Montgomery, and Memphis were not racially segregated during the late 19800s. But, by the early 1900s the railcars were segregated because city ordinances and state statues mandated racial separation in public accommodations. Therefore, the racist were not the white railroad owners— the racist was the state!
In fact, many companies,—including private railroads for example—refused to adhere to Jim Crow laws. Economic historian Dr. Jennifer Roback argues that private railroads did not want to be segregated BUT WERE REQUIRED TO DO SO BY LAW. Jim Crow laws was interfering with their right to run their businesses. Jim Crow legislation was interfering with their freedom to associate and to conduct business with whom they pleased.
If we are truly a free society, we must have the full right to associate or not to associate with whomever we please, and that means people have the right to be raciest.
So, thanks to our government, who back then ignored the rights granted to its citizens by the Constitution, they FORCED the white people to discrimination in all matters of life. Yes, they forced the whites to discriminate against the blacks. 
Of course, you could argue those government officials were all white.
Doesn’t matter. It was still a government forcing its citizens to conduct their lives as the government saw fit. And it was against the Constitution.
And now, the black “President” in the White House…seeks to enforce all his citizens to his own wishes…again—ignoring the Constitution. Obama’s actions are just as tyrannical as the men who made the Jim Crow laws.
Jim Crow, IS back. It’s just changed colors. The new black is… white.

—That I have NEVER heard, in my lifetime, a more insulting speech, than the speech just given by King Barack this afternoon. 
Insulting, to every American. Insulting to whites. Insulting to Chinese. Insulting to Mexicans. Insulting to Japanese. Insulting to blacks. Insulting to every American.
Why am I insulted? Because Obama was lecturing…lecturing America on how we are ‘hurting’ so many American Muslims. THOSE Muslims who help build this nation from the very start. And that little Muslim girl who sent him a valentine? She’s our future. She IS the future of America.
Tell me, where were all the Muslims at Bunker Hill? Where was the Muhammad Paul Revere? Where they on the slave plantations? He said they built our railroads. Did they build our highways? Our laws? No, Islam has no place with a republic.
This nation was built on Christianity. Obama saying that Muslims are just as much a part of building America as Christians, is like saying that the Mosque in Istanbul was built by George Washington.
How in hell did this man get to be President?
Who built the railroads? The Chinese. Oh, there might have been a few Muslims here and there, but if America is becoming a Muslim nation it’s thanks to Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and King Obama, who have gone around the globe and transferred as many Muslims as they can here.
The man writes American history right in front of our face and NO one calls him on it.
No one. Not FOX, not CNN,…and Obama is putting this Islamic crap in our children’s history book. And he will be flooding America with millions from Syria.
And he’s worried, that the Americans living here won’t welcome them with open arms.
King Obama, was there to tell the world, that he knows what’s happening. Those ISIL are just young boys with no jobs…beheading has NOTHING to do with Islam. No. Islam is a peaceful religion, and America is not at war with Islam.
They lie. He doesn’t. Those are just young kids being influenced by a bad lot.
What can you say about a leader of the world that ignores history?
What he fails to mention, and won’t say, is that Islam IS at war with America. And the Jews. And the Christians….and they mean to slaughter us all.
Cue in, right on time, Jeb Bush, sounding all powerful…please. Obama has two more years.
What if he doesn’t WANT to leave office? What if ISIS attacks the White House? With a man in charge who by all facts and actions, SIDES with the people who want us all dead? Does Jeb think he has a chance to take the White House with Obama in it?
Did FOX even mention how much of a lie it is that Islam founded America? Does ANYBODY in our government or on our TV have the GUTS to say what an insult this man is?
No one has the guts.
Where is the man to shout out to the world that THIS man, should be impeached. THIS man commits treason.
We see the Hitler mistake repeating itself. ISIS are Nazi’s. Obama put us ALL in danger.
America…Obama just wrote you off the pages of history, and your constitution is trash.

Dave Barry is one of America’s National treasures. And so…without his permission, I am going to copy a portion of a column that I read before breakfast.
Nobody tell him.
It’s from a column called “The Rules” and to set up the excerpt, it was about the various rules our leaders in Washington make that baffle us all. He made the point that President Reagan in a direct quote after bombing Khadafy said, “We weren’t out to kill anybody.”
“We have large military airplanes fly over there, and drop bombs all over his immediate vicinity: but we weren’t trying to kill him. You want to know why? I’ll tell you why. The Rules.
That’s right. It runs out that we have this law, signed in 1976 by Gerald Ford, who coincidentally also pardoned Richard M. Nixon, under which it is illegal for our government to assassinate foreign leaders. So we can’t just hire a couple of experienced persons named Vito for 100 grand to sneak over there one night in dark clothing and fill up Moammar’s various breathing apertures with plumbers’ putty. No, that would be breaking a rule. So what we do is spend several hundred million dollars to crank up the entire Sixth Fleet and have planes fly over from as far away as England, not to mention that we lose a couple of airmen, to achieve the purpose of NOT killing Moammar Khadafy. I wonder how Mr. Barry would talk about the fact that we spend TRILLIONS of dollars after being attacked by bin Laden, only to have the next President spend another trillion taking us out, only to decide that we need to spend another trillion to go back, and even after bin Laden is dead? Add to that the fact that we are trillions in debt.
And on top of that, we send men over there and tell them the new rule: Don’t shoot your enemy unless he shoots you first! Ha ha ha.
So, hopefully Mr. Barry will forgive me for posting his copyrighted ‘stuff” and if he gets mad, I’ll just have to bake him another pumpkin pie.

Nobody Remembers

The History channel just got through with a mini-series about the start of the American revolution, called, “Sons of Liberty.” And so this week, (being as I hold dear fondness for the Adams’s) I thought I’d do some remembering of Sam Adams.
I had to laugh at how they really romanticized Sam Adams, the man whose name was at the top of King George’s death list. …and yet, they just touched the mere surface of the man.
Sam Adams was unbelievably young and handsome in the series, and while I was very glad to see some homage paid to the Adams family, since Washington D.C., has not YET honored them with any sort of monument…..everything I’ve ever read about the time, suggest they took great creative license with the script.
But…you know what? It might at this time in our history, be necessary. We live in a culture that young people might not watch if a good-looking leading man was not cast. And we WANT the young to learn history. God knows, they are getting crap in the schools.
Sons of Liberty
The television series stopped after the Battle of Bunker Hill (my birthday– coincidently) but the war was not going well for the longest of time. General George Washington kept having to retreat as we all know…
In fact, the Continental Congress had to move out of Philadelphia in 1777, since the British were on the march, and fast.
Things were so depressing that John Adams said this:
“The prospect is chilling, on every Side: Gloomy, dark, melancholy and dispiriting.”
The Continental Congress all left the city in a rush, they would have all been hanged. Or worse yet, like Dr. Warren, Sam’s good friend, beheaded on Bunker Hill.
The real Sam Adams was NOT a young man when the revolution started. He had lost his first wife and four of his children before the war started. The Old South Church where Sam’s father had once worshipped was ripped apart and used as a riding academy by the British. Sam’s house in Boston was vandalized by the British troops so badly that it was uninhabitable.
They left that OUT of the series.
And yet, on September 26, 1777, Samuel Adams…the slightly heavy, gray-haired, 55-year-old, gave his fellow member of Congress a talk, of encouragement.
“If we despond, public confidence is destroyed, the people will no longer yield their support to a hopeless contest, and American liberty is no more. Through the darkness which shrouds our prospects the ark of safety is visible. Despondency becomes not the dignity of our cause, nor the character of those who are its supporters.”
“Let us awaken the, and evince a different spirit , a spirit that shall inspire the people with confidence in themselves and in us, a spirit that will encourage them to persevere in this glorious struggle, until their rights and liberties shall be established on a rock. We have proclaimed to the world our determination “to die freemen, rather than to live slaves.” We have appealed to Heaven for the justice of our cause, and in Heaven we have places out truss. Numerous have been the manifestation of God’s providence in sustaining us. In the gloomy period of adversity we had had “our cloud by day and pillar of fire by night.” We have been reduced to distress, and the arm of Omnipotence has raised us up. Let us still rely in humble convince on Him who is might to save. Good tidings will soon arrive. We shall never be abandoned by Heaven while we act worthy if its aid and protections.
Sam & Me
On October 17, at Saratoga, the American General Horatio Gates accepted the surrender of 5,8000 British soldier lad by General John Burgoyne. And this victory brought France to our aid…so Sam was right.
In the year 2000, my mother paid for my airfare to go to Boston, because I couldn’t afford it. It wasn’t until after suffering from a deep depression, did I take my mother’s advice and go to search basically– for myself. I hit Boston, Braintree, Bunker Hill…The gravesites of the Adams’ …all of them.
What I found, was the remarkable story of a few men, in Boston, who dared to say, against all odds, to the might King of England…no. We are not colonists.
“Is not America already independent? Why then not declare it? ” (Sam Adams, 1776.)
Sam Adams was not a rich man…and he truly was, the man who rallied Boston to resistance.
So, while historically speaking, history is twisted here and there by script writers, I can honestly say, I’m very glad Sam Adams got shown on the History Channel last week.
My favorite description of Sam Adams was writing by Mercy Otis Warren, in 1805:
“His mind was replete with resources that dissipated fear….he stood forth earl, and continued firm, through the great struggle, and may justly claim a large share of honor, due to that spirit of energy which opposed the measures of administration, and produced the independence of America. Through a long life he exhibited on all occasions an example of patriotism, religion, and virtue honorary to the human character. “
As you can see from the picture, I got his legs, his big forehead (of which I have been embarrassed all my life) and most of all, much to most everyone I know, an insufferable love of justice and hatred of tyranny.
Which—- as the Nobody that I am, if I must say so, is about as American as you can get.

I am a nobody. If the different classes of America were color-coded, I would be in the yucky brown, one rung up from the bottom. I grew up in Naples, Florida and live near the Mississippi River now with my husband and two dogs. I am part of the slowly disappearing middle-class. I was a musician most of my life: drummer/singer/keyboards—but I retired before the plastic surgery flu hit.
