Nobody's Opinion

Nobody Cares If I Love Puppies

Nobody Cares

Ah…come on. Put a puppy in commercial with those beautiful creatures and you have a winner.

I’m watching it one…more…time…because it makes me feel good.

They had me at the first bark.

  1. Four years ago my wife was returning home on a 2-lane mountain road in a sleet storm. She came around a curve and saw a dog sitting there in the middle of the slush-covered road. She pulled up next to the dog and opened the door to see if it was injured. The poor dog laid over on her back and started wimpering so my wife *had to* pick her up and put her in the car.

At home, we saw that the dog was wearing a collar but it was biting into her neck so badly that we had to cut it off. She was filthy dirty like she had been in the wild for months and her ribs were showing. We gave her a warm bath and some food, then she laid down and slept. The next day we took her to the vet and he discovered that she had several kinds of intestinal parasites, which he treated.

We thought of putting up a “found dog” sign, but decided that the jerk who did this to the poor dog didn’t deserve to have her back so we just kept her. She’s fat and happy and part of the family now. She still lays over on her back and wants her tummy rubbed so apparently her behavior on that icy road was just a trick to find a new owner. It worked!

    • Ahhhhh…that’s is so sweet! And a happy ending…:)   I like to think those kind of synchronicity events in our lives are actually not coincidence. You and your wife are great people for taking in a lost soul.   I’ve always had dogs in my life, and whenever the bad days come, all  you need is that puppy kiss…to right the world.   Thanks for sharing that story….I’m a real sucker for dogs.
