Nobody’s Email: Andy Rooney’s Lessons of Life
Nobody Gets Email
It’s been long time since I’ve stepped into any church, but I would probably go more often, if the preachers would say more of things like this gems from Andy Rooney:
It’s fitting wisdom for a Sunday, don’t you think?
(Thanks to J.R.)
Written by the late Andy Rooney (ex-60 Minutes USA), a man with whom I also disagreed sometimes, had the gift of saying so much with so few words. These are some of those words I think are worth repeating.
I’ve learned…. That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.
I’ve learned…. That just one person saying to me, ‘You’ve made my day!’ makes my day.
I’ve learned…. That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.
I’ve learned…. That being kind is more important than being right.
I’ve learned…. That you should never say no to a gift from a child.
I’ve learned…. That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act
goofy with.
I’ve learned…. That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.
I’ve learned…. That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child
did wonders for me as an adult.
I’ve learned…. That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
I’ve learned…. That money doesn’t buy class.
I’ve learned…. That it’s those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.
I’ve learned… That under everyone’s hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.
I’ve learned…. That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
I’ve learned…. That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to
hurt you.
I’ve learned…. That love, not time, heals all wounds.
I’ve learned…. That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter
I’ve learned…. That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.
I’ve learned… That life is tough, but I’m tougher.
I’ve learned…. That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.
I’ve learned…. That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
I’ve learned…. That I wish I could have told my Mum and Dad that I love them one more time before
passed away.
I’ve learned…. That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to
eat them.
I’ve learned…. That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
I’ve learned…. That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you’re
hooked for life.
I’ve learned…. That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth
occurs while you’re climbing it.
I’ve learned…. That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

Which side of the fence?
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
If a Conservative doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one. If a Liberal doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a Conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat. If a Liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a Conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life. If a Liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a Conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. If a Liberal is down-and-out he wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a Conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels. A Liberal demands that those they don’t like be shut down.
If a Conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church. A Liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
If a Conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. If a Liberal decides he needs health care, he demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a Conservative reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends can have a good laugh. A Liberal will delete it because he’s “offended”.
Well, I forwarded it..
